The Cityzens announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.
Blakstad joined Manchester City from Rosenborg in the January 2022 transfer window. She has grown significantly in her time in England, however, she has struggled to nail down a regular starting place in Gareth Taylor’s Manchester City side.
In her two years at The Academy Stadium, Blakstad has made 36 appearances for Manchester City in all competitions while she has scored 10 goals. Blakstad’s versatility has resulted in her being fielded in various left-sided positions in her time with the club. She has provided head coach Taylor with a very different option on the left side of his team, using her height and physicality to her advantage.
While the Norwegian international hasn’t had as much game time at Manchester City as she will have hoped for, she can be a real asset for her new club and could yet become one of the world’s top stars.
Blakstad is the first senior player to leave Manchester City in the January transfer window. It is not known whether head coach Taylor could enter the transfer market to bolster his side’s left-sided options following the player’s departure.
