Thorns announced news of the arrangement via an update on their official club website this evening.
It has been reported that Leon has joined the American club on a deal which will run until 30 June 2023, subject to the necessary legal documentation being obtained.
Leon joined Manchester United on a free transfer last summer after leaving former club West Ham United. The player signed a two-year deal with The Red Devils. Leon has struggled for game time at Manchester United to date with the player being offered just five substitute appearances in the Barclays Women’s Super League this season.
The forward will be hoping that the loan move to Portland Thorns will provide her will some good preparation ahead of Canada’s involvement at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023.
After securing the services of Leon on a temporary basis, Portland Thorns head coach Mike Norris said “Adriana is an excellent addition to our deep and talented roster. She brings a wealth of experience both at the international level and club level.
“An out-and-out winger, she likes to play on the front foot and go at defenders and we feel she will fit our playing style well.”
Leon will be available to make her Portland Thorns debut once international clearance has been obtained.
