There are several FC Barcelona players who have taken their game to a whole new level since the arrival of Hansi Flick on the Blaugrana bench. This is clearly the case for forwards like Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha, who both are performing at a level considerably better than last season.
Similarly, the defender Inigo Martinez has also taken full advantage of Flick’s arrival to showcase his skills at the Catalan club.
Meanwhile, one of his colleagues in the backline, Jules Kounde, is having more of a mixed season under Flick. There is no doubt about his quality and he is also performing at a very high level at the right-back position this season. In fact, he is one of the players with the highest number of minutes played this season in the Barcelona squad.
However, he has also faced some disciplinary problems under the tight watch of Flick and has already been penalized several times for being late for a team talk or a training session by being dropped from a starting lineup. The latest such instance was in the match against Rayo Vallecano when the German tactician dropped him for Hector Fort.
Keeping in view his high-level performances and his poor disciplinary record, Fichajes reports that the Premier League side Manchester United is looking to take advantage of the situation by trying to convince Barcelona to part ways with the French defender for €80 million in the next summer transfer window.
The Red Devils believe he will be an ideal piece to strengthen their squad and are willing to offer him a salary significantly higher than what he is currently getting at the Blaugrana club. Ruben Amorim also believes Kounde would fit well in his schemes and would help improve his team’s inconsistent defensive performances.
However, Barcelona are not too keen to part ways with such an important defender, while the player himself has not given any indications of a desire to move away from the Catalan club. Still, the promise of such a significant injection of cash can test the Blauganes’ resolve, especially as they need income to make their desired moves in the market.
