Manchester United host Brighton in the Premier League today bidding to continue an upturn in results.
After battling to a point at Liverpool, United dumped Arsenal out of the FA Cup last weekend before a 3-1 win over Southampton on Thursday night. Amad Diallo was the hero with a stunning late hat-trick, though the unconvincing nature of the performance was a concern.
Ruben Amorim has continued to insist it will take time for his team to take shape. However, there have been encouraging signs the Red Devils are fostering an understanding of the head coach’s plan.
Brighton will prove a good gauge of the progress his side have made. The Seagulls have won five of the last six Premier League meetings between the teams.
Diogo Dalot is free to return after serving the one-game suspension he picked up for a red card in the FA Cup win over Arsenal. His return could allow Diallo, scorer of a hat-trick from wing-back, to move further forward.
Joshua Zirkzee will hope his cameo from the bench will be enough to earn the nod at centre-forward after another blank from Rasmus Hojlund.
Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans, Mason Mount and Luke Shaw remain out, though the latter is nearing a return.
Manchester United predicted XI: Onana; De Ligt, Maguire, Martinez; Mazraoui, Mainoo, Ugarte, Dalot; Amad, Fernandes, Zirkzee.
Manchester United host Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday 19th January 2025. Kick-off at Old Trafford is 14:00 GMT.
Manchester United vs Brighton wil not be broadcast live in the UK.
