Ruben Amorim has three players pushing to return after injury woes
Manchester United could tonight welcome Kobbie Mainoo back from injury for their Europa League quarter-final first leg against Lyon.
Mainoo has been sidelined for two months with a calf injury and this week week returned to training ahead of the trip to France. It is unlikely he will start, but an involvement off the bench has not been ruled out.
Asked if Mainoo could start in France, Ruben Amorim said: "In this moment, we have to be careful with Kobbie. He had some games out so we have to be careful with his fitness. We are really pleased with him, but we have to be careful with him."
Matthijs de Ligt has again been ruled out, though, with the same foot injury which saw him miss the drab Manchester draw draw Man City. With Lisandro Martinez, Ayden Heaven and Jonny Evans ruled out, Harry Maguire should again start alongside the impressive Leny Yoro.
Amorim continued: "Matthijs has a problem with his foot. We are trying to assess. We don't have the data on when he can return. Toby [Collyer] has a small issue in his leg."
Luke Shaw is also available, but is unlikely to dislodge Patrick Dorgu at left-back, while Mason Mount was another rare sighting at the weekend after his own lengthy injury woes.
Mount is also unlikely to start in France, but the frustrating form of Alejandro Garnacho will be a concern for manager Ruben Amorim. It’s a toss up between Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, though the latter started the derby so the former could come in.
Manchester United predicted XI: Onana; Mazraoui, Maguire, Yoro; Dalot, Ugarte, Casemiro, Dorgu; Fernandes, Garnacho; Zirkzee
Injured: De Ligt, Martinez, Amad, Shaw, Heaven, Evans, Collyer
