By winning the Trophée des Champions in Doha this afternoon following his side’s 1-0 win over AS Monaco, the Paris captain has made history not only for Paris Saint-Germain but also for French football.
With this 31st trophy added to Marqui's collection, the Brazilian defender becomes not only the most successful footballer in the history of Les Rouge et Bleu but also in the history of the French game.
His nine Ligue 1 titles, seven Coupes de France, six Coupes de la Ligue and nine Trophées des Champions since 2013 have given him a total of 31, one more than his former teammate Marco Verratti.
Now, the man who has become a legend in the hearts of the Paris fans still has six months left this season to add to the most impressive list of honours in France.
