Vivianne Miedema has been shortlisted for March’s Barclays Women’s Super League Player of the Month award.
It follows a superb 31 days for the Netherlands international who scored four goals and registered two assists in all competitions.
She began the month with our opener in a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Brisbane Road when ghosting into the box and heading home Aoba Fujino’s cross before the Japan international restored our lead in the capital.
Her sublime form continued in the following assignment when Miedema provided the assist for Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s opener in a 1-1 draw away to West Ham.
With the scoreline goalless, she flicked Mary Fowler’s cross into the box towards the Jamaican who took a touch and slammed home from close range.
The versatile forward then provided in back-to-back games when she teed up Jess Park to score our second in a 2-0 FA Cup quarter-final victory at the Joie Stadium.
She then featured in all four of our successive meetings with Chelsea in all competitions, scoring twice in our 2-0 Champions League last-eight first leg meeting at home.
Although we exited the European competition following defeat in the second leg, City and Miedema bounced back in our final March assignment as we beat Brighton 2-1 at Broadfield Stadium.
After Kerstin Casparij had given us the lead, we weathered a Seagull storm before Miedema collected the ball inside the area following a skilful Kerolin Nicoli run and cross before the Netherlands striker fired into the roof of the net.
Our forward faces competition for the prize from Chelsea’s Aggie Beever-Jones, Arsenal’s Mariona Caldentey and Alessia Russo, Manchester United’s Leah Galton and Maya Le Tissiser and West Ham’s Shekiera Martinez.
The voting closes on Monday 7 April at 11:00 (UK), choose Miedema here.
