Milan will evaluate the future of four players who, for one reason or the other, haven’t featured regularly so far in January: Ismael Bennacer, Davide Calabria, Luka Jovic, and Fikayo Tomori. A couple might be on their way out, Sky reports (via OneFootball).
The Algerian international is in the final stages of his rehab. His return will come in handy given their thinness in the midfield. However, the Rossoneri are considering adding to the position. He’s pretty expensive salary-wise especially considering that he has missed months with two separate injuries in the last calendar year. He’s been frequently linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.
Calabria has just six months on his contract with Milan. The brass hasn’t tendered him a new one. An offer would be properly weighed. Galatasaray tracked him in the past. Paulo Fonseca is ready to give more game time to Alex Jimenez, who can play on both defensive flanks.
Luka Jovic is currently recovering from sports hernia surgery and has been demoted after the arrival of Tammy Abraham. He’s also behind Francesco Camarda in the pecking order. He’s been attached with a transfer to Turkey too.
Instead, Tomori lost his spot to Malick Thiaw and Matteo Gabbia and is fighting for the scraps with Strahinja Pavlovic.
Other than for the Englishman, the bids for wouldn’t be particularly enticing, but the departures would free up decent room in their payroll. However, while they are not regulars, they have to be careful to avoid hurting their depth. The only one truly redundant is Jovic.
