Multiple sources in Italy claim Tony D’Amico is Milan’s top choice for the sporting director role, but Atalanta are unwilling to give away their executive to a direct rival, so the signals for the Rossoneri are not positive.
Calciomercato.com is the latest Italian media outlet claiming that Atalanta director D’Amico is Milan’s primary target for the sporting director role.
Milan have already held talks with Fabio Paratici and Igli Tare. Paratici was close to joining the Rossoneri, but the deal ultimately collapsed due to legal matters.
Tare is without a club after leaving Lazio two years ago, but Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani seems not entirely convinced about the ex-striker.
D’Amico is under contract with Atalanta until June 2027, and this is just one reason why the Rossoneri are unlikely to hire the Italian director,, with signals described as ‘not positive’ for the Diavoli.
Calciomercato.com reports that D’Amico has been given more duties and responsibilities in Bergamo and that Milan have not held direct talks with the 45-year-old out of respect for Atalanta.
However, if Milan want to get the Atalanta director, they’ll need to sit down and negotiate with their competitors, who are also their next rivals in Serie A.
