Igli Tare and Tony D’Amico are now seen as the leading candidates for the Milan sporting director role, as Fabio Paratici has been dropped due to legal matters.

Milan must resume their search for a new sporting director after legal matters blocked the appointment of the Italian director.

Paratici is serving a 30-month ban until July 20 and is among those under trial in the Prisma Investigation conducted by Italian authorities.

As reported by Gazzetta, Milan had reached an agreement in principle with Paratici, but could not agree on specific clauses to be activated if the Italian director was found guilty in a criminal trial that is still ongoing.

Both Gazzetta and Calciomercato.com report that the latest U-turn will force Milan to start from scratch in the search for a new sporting director.

Tare, a former Lazio director, had previously held talks with Gerry Cardinale and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, while Atalanta’s D’Amico has recently emerged as a strong candidate for the Serie A giants.

Milan is planning to hire a new director with a deep knowledge of Italian football, so, according to Calciomercato, Napoli’s Giovanni Manna is also on the Rossoneri’s agenda.

However, President Aurelio De Laurentiis is unwilling to part company with the 36-year-old who was hired less than a year ago.
