Milan to Adjust to Conceiçao Tactically and Market-Wise

Sergio Conceiçao will begin his Milan spell with a 4-3-3 against Juventus. It can turn into the previous 4-2-3-1 or a 4-4-2 if need be, but he won’t start two strikers together for now, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

Ismael Bennacer fared decently in his return from a calf tear. He will likely team up with Tijjani Reijnders and Youssouf Fofana in the midfield. Despite the lengthy absence, he’s the healthiest option. Yunus Musah, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Filippo Terracciano aren’t 100 percent.

Conceiçao has been flexible tactically throughout his career but, if he settled on this scheme as his go-to, Milan would need at least one more new midfielder. They were already monitoring a few Serie A options like Morten Frendrup, whom Genoa want to keep, Verona’s Reda Belahyane, and Monza’s Warren Bondo.

Jorge Mendes represents Samu Costa, who recently debuted with Portugal. He’s very gritty and has a €15M price tag. The Rossoneri don’t have room in their lists: they must sell somebody to insert a foreigner. They could be keen on a Pepe, who’s a pet player of their new gaffer because of his versatility. At 27 years old, he’d like to join a top-five league. On the other hand, Porto are an expensive boutique, especially in January.

Our Take on Milan and Conceiçao

Reijnders is on such a tear that it’d be a pity to move him back to the holding position. Without an effective no.10 and with lackluster wing play, a three-man midfield makes a lot of sense with Bennacer back into the fold, but they’d need reinforcements to make it viable for a few months.
