Nacer Chadli has joined Standard Liege’s reserve team SL16 until the end of season. The 35-year-old was a free agent after his contract expired last summer at Westerlo. Liege’s second team play in the highest amateur league in Belgium.

Chadli returns to the club that he spent seven years at before moving to the Netherlands. After lack of opportunity as a teen at Standard, Chadli found his breakthrough with AGOVV via the MVV Maastricht academy, before taking his next steps at FC Twente and Tottenham Hotspur in 2013.

After several weeks of training with the group, Nacer Chadli agreed to bring his experience to the U23 set-up and provide valid competition at the disposal of Sébastien Grandjean and his staff for the rest of this season.

There has been no confirmation as to whether the 66-times former Belgian international will pursue a coaching role.
