Back and forth and now back again? Matthis Abline (21) looks set to sign for FC Nantes for the second time this summer, according to Ouest-France.
Abline spent last season on loan at Nantes from Stade Rennais. Towards the end of the campaign, he found rhythm netting four goals in his final seven Ligue 1 games. That form convinced Nantes and their manager Antoine Kombouaré to make the deal permanent for a €6m fee.
However, as part of the deal, Rennes could re-sign the France youth international for an extra €2m. Hoping to make a larger profit on the player, that clause was triggered by Les Rennais and he therefore returned to Roazhon Park. However, Nantes were unwilling to give up in their pursuit of Abline.
Whilst Les Canaris faced competition from RC Strasbourg Alsace, they are now set to conclude a deal for the striker. A deal, worth a fixed €10m but rising to €12m, is currently being finalised between the two clubs. Abline finally looks set to be a Nantes player on a permanent basis.
