Napoli will have to fill a host of holes in the summer ahead of their Champions League return, including one of the wings, and they have taken an interest in Nadir Zortea, who can handle multiple positions, Tuttomercatoweb relays.
The Azzurri would like to add a player similar to Leonardo Spinazzola. He has been fine but also dealt with a few minor injuries. The newcomer would be a deputy and a super-sub on both flanks. Like the former Roma man, the 25-year-old can star as a fullback, wing-back, or even offensive winger.
Signing Zortea or another contributor with the same skillset would bolster the depth and allow Napoli to flip flop between schemes as they have done this campaign, in addition to giving them more juice off the bench.
The Atalanta youth product has found a permanent home in Sardinia after a few loan spells. He’s having a career season, as he has hit the net five times. He previously spent time at Cremonese, Salernitana, Sassuolo, and Frosinone.
They are basically searching for a better and younger version of Pasquale Mazzocchi, who might head elsewhere, and he’d be an upgrade. He probably wouldn’t turn down the opportunity to jump to a big team, but he has finally been a regular after scratching and clawing for minutes for several years. While he and Spinazzola can easily play on the left wing, it’d be better if they signed a lefty who would be an even cleaner fit, as Mathias Olivera gets banged up a lot too.
