Denzel Dumfries feels that Inter Milan are a “good group” behind the scenes, capable of being playful and laughing at themselves.

The Dutchman spoke to Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, via FCInterNews, about the camaraderie in the Nerazzurri dressing room. He also looked back on tense scenes at the 2022 World Cup.

Dumfries has now been at Inter for well over three years.

Naturally, there was a process where the Dutchman had to settle in. He had joined the Nerazzurri from a different team, a different league, and a different country.

But over time, Dumfries has made himself a familiar face at Inter.

The 28-year-old is now very much a piece of the jigsaw puzzle at the Nerazzurri. And that is the case both on and off the pitch for the former PSV man.

Dumfries looked back on a “great evening” during his time at Inter.

“It was New Years Eve at my house,” the Dutchman recalled.

“Darmian was making fun of me, because I had sunglasses on,” Dumfries said.

“Now that I think about it, we make fun of ourselves a lot as a team,” he continued. “We’re a good group.”

And the 28-year-old also recalled the fracas at the end of the match between the Netherlands and Argentina at the 2022 World Cup.

“There were too many emotions,” Dumfries admitted. “Too much enthusiasm.”

“Looking back on it now, Argentine deserved to win,” the Dutchman said.

“But at the time, I saw it differently.”

Dumfries then added that “I rarely lose control of emotions.”

“I learned that from doing kickboxing as a child,” the Inter wingback explained.
