Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani had another meeting with Igli Tare today and he remains the favourite for director of sport, but Atalanta’s Tony D’Amico remains in the background.
There had already been one encounter that was reported to be ‘positive’, but it was also noted by multiple sources that Furlani was not quite convinced that Tare represented the person they want to be the new director of sport.
More summits were required and they sat down again today, with Calciomercato.com insisting it was again a positive discussion.

There was progress including analysing the choice of coach for the 2025-26 campaign, with suggestions including Max Allegri and Bologna’s Vincenzo Italiano.
Tare also requested a three-year contract and, crucially, is a free agent after leaving Lazio last summer.
Meanwhile, there continue to be rumours that Furlani would prefer D’Amico, who is under contract with Atalanta until June 2027.
Milan had been on the verge of an agreement with Fabio Paratici last month, only for the negotiations to collapse because of concerns over his ban and upcoming civil trial for financial irregularities at Juventus.
