Newcastle agree £68m double sale to ease PSR concerns | OneFootball

Newcastle United have agreed deals to sell Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson to Brighton & Hove Albion and Nottingham Forest respectively, pocketing close to £70m in transfer fees the process.

The Magpies have been looking to generate quick income amid concerns that they may breach the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules, potentially resulting in a points deduction.

Financial accounts must be finalised by the Premier League's June 30 deadline, prompting a number of sides to engage in speedy deals in order to balance the books – Everton, Chelsea and Aston Villa among those to have fast-tracked transactions over the past week.

Star assets Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes have been linked with moves away from St James' Park as a result of Newcastle's precarious finances, while reports suggests the club were willing to sell Anthony Gordon to Liverpool despite his importance to Eddie Howe's team.

That move won't happen but two that will, barring any last-minute complications, involve teenager Minteh and 21-year-old Anderson, who had looked set for a bright future in the North East.

The Athletic report that a deal in the region of £33m has been agreed for Minteh to head to Brighton, granting him to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical. He spent last season on loan at Dutch giants Feyenoord, scoring 10 goals in 27 Eredivisie appearances, and will become the Seagulls' record-signing if the move is completed.

Anderson, meanwhile, appears to be heading to Nottingham Forest in a £35m transfer that will not include Anthony Elanga heading the other way. Sky Sports report that Anderson's preference would have been to stay and fight for his place at Newcastle, but with the club indicating their need to sell and Forest into their third season as a Premier League club, he's willing to accept the move.

In a separate transaction, Mail Sport report that Newcastle are working on taking goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos from Nottingham Forest, to provide further competition for Nick Pope and Martin Dubravka.

Third-choice goalkeeper Loris Karius has departed Newcastle this summer after reaching the end of his contract.
