Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak could be in high demand in the summer transfer window, with several clubs vying for his signature.
According to David Ornstein, the Magpies have not put any price tag on Isak, but they would be willing to listen to offers at around £150 million. If any potential side is willing to come up with such an “eye-watering offer”, then a deal could be struck.
Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona are showing interest in signing the Newcastle striker, but the Magpies have no intention of letting him go. He is well-paid at the club and has three more years left on his contract at St James’ Park.
Ornstein says that Liverpool are only going to consider making a move if Isak is genuinely available. In this case, Newcastle want to build a team around him, and the Magpies will not welcome any conversations regarding his transfer.
Isak has been in sensational scoring form this season for Newcastle. He has scored 22 goals and registered five assists in all competitions for the Tyneside club.
The Swedish striker needs to continue his impressive form to help Newcastle secure a top-four finish. The Magpies are only three points behind fourth-placed Manchester City, and they must aim to secure Champions League football next season.
Isak has not shown any willingness to move elsewhere, and Newcastle do not want to sell him as well. If they can secure Champions League football, any potential suitor can forget about signing him.
Liverpool have the financial power to sign Isak, but will they pay in the north of £150m for a single player? It is highly unlikely.
The little from Ornstein should excite the Newcastle fan base. The fans love and adore Isak, and they don’t want him to leave any time soon.
