For all of the issues currently at Leicester, Ruud van Nistelrooy was brought in for one job. He needed to find a way to keep the club in the Premier League. Even if the Foxes had been relegated anyway, there at least needed to be some positive developments.
Even if LCFC still ended up going to the Championship, the drop could have been excused with some worthy performances. Many would have come to RvN's defense, likely citing that he had too much of a hurdle to overcome. Instead, while the Dutchman is far from the culprit, there are few voices supporting his staying on at the conclusion of the season. Some are even asking how he is still in the role, especially considering the horrid matches that supporters have been forced to endure.
In comes the possibility of adding Danny Röhl. With Sheffield Wednesday facing their known issues, most believe that the German will look for greener pastures soon. Already, a number of voices believe both Leicester and Southampton are highly interested in his services.
The logic makes sense. For everything Röhl is dealing with and overcoming at his current club, it's safe to assume that he'd be able to replicate his success with a club that would then have decided advantages as a bigger former EPL side now playing in the Championship.
Another point also worth noting is that with the added stability (compared to the Owls), Röhl would likely be willing to leave his current situation for a more favorable contract, or at least not demand something outrageous.
