Five-year coefficient: Borussia Dortmund have contributed 18 points to the Bundesliga's five-year UEFA coefficient this season. That is the most of all eight German participants to date. Bayern Munich (currently 17 points) and Eintracht Frankfurt (15) are still represented in their competitions, however. Leverkusen have picked up 11 points, Heidenheim nine, Hoffenheim and Stuttgart seven each, Leipzig two. In the calculation of the five-year coefficient, two points are awarded for a win and one point for a draw.

Attendance record: A total of 568,490 spectators have attended the seven home games in this Champions League campaign – more than in any other stadium and more than ever before in a Black & Yellow European campaign. On average, there were 81,213 spectators per home game. Only the play-off match against Sporting Lisbon (80,300), which had to be organised at short notice, had a few empty seats.

Congested calendar: BVB contested 14 matches in this European campaign (eight wins, two draws and four defeats). Only on one occasion have they played more. In 2015/16, the Black & Yellows initially had to play two qualifying rounds for the UEFA Europa League, before taking part in six group games and then knockout ties in the round of 32, 16 and the quarter finals (against Liverpool) – a total of 16 matches.

Spain: Borussia Dortmund were knocked out by La Liga opposition for the first time since 2013/14, when they were narrowly beaten by Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals (3-0 loss away, 2-0 win at home). The Black & Yellows prevailed against Sevilla in the last 16 in 2020/21 (3-2 win away, 2-2 draw at home) and against Atlético Madrid in the quarter-final in 2023/24 (2-1 loss away, 4-2 win at home). The overall record against Spanish clubs is as follows: seven progressions, four eliminations. It was their first win in seven meetings with Barcelona.

Strong coaching record: During his time as coach of FC Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, Niko Kovac has suffered only two defeats in his 17 matches in Europe's elite club competition. There have also been 10 victories and five draws. On average, Kovac has picked up 2.06 points per match, which puts him in third place historically in terms of the best-performing coaches with at least 15 appearances in the competition.

Goal-getter: Serhou Guirassy scored his 11th, 12th and 13th goals of this Champions League campaign and thus returned to the top of the goalscoring charts. Second and third place are occupied by Raphinha (12) and Robert Lewandowski (11) of FC Barcelona, who came away empty-handed today. Guirassy played in all 14 matches and contributed 13 goals and seven assists. That means he has the joint-most scorer points in Europe's elite club competition too – along with Raphinha.
