Nottingham Forest have confirmed the signing of Sevilla defender Gonzalo Montiel.
The Argentina international joins Steve Cooper’s side on an initial loan deal which could become permanent for a reported £9.4m.
Montiel helped clinch Argentina’s World Cup victory over France by scoring the winning penalty in last December’s memorable final.
He also dispatched the decisive spot kick for Los Rojiblancos in their Europa League final triumph over Roma at the end of the previous campaign.
“I’m coming here full of expectations, of getting to play and showing what I can do. I’m also hungry to win things, to win trophies, now’s the time to show this,” said Montiel.
“I’ve been watching the Premier League since I was child, I used to watch every game. As a player you want to play in the best league, and the Premier League is just that.”
The 26-year-old could make his Forest debut in Sunday’s Premier League encounter away to Manchester United.
