Atalanta and VfB Stuttgart have officially announced that El-Bilali Toure will spend the 2024-25 season on loan in the Bundesliga, after the two clubs reached an agreement for the former Almeira striker earlier in August.
Recent reports suggest Stuttgart have paid Atalanta a fee of around €4m to bring the Mali international in on loan for the season, and will have an option to buy included in the deal for a total of €20m including bonuses, plus a 10% sell-on clause.
“I’m really happy to wear the VfB jersey next season. VfB is a big club with great fans. I’m really looking forward to playing in the Bundesliga and of course in the Champions League, and I’m really looking forward to getting to know my new teammates,” Toure said in a statement on the club website.
Toure joins Stuttgart on loan just one year after he completed his record-breaking switch to the Gewiss Stadium. Atalanta paid Almeira a fee of €30m for his services, which made him the most expensive signing in the club’s history.
The 22-year-old suffered heavily with injuries immediately after he arrived in Bergamo, and then found it difficult to overcome Gianluca Scamacca in the pecking order upon his return.
Still, he was a member of Atalanta’s historic Europa League winning squad at the back end of the 2023-24 season, and came on for the final 10 minutes of the match in Dublin.
