FC Barcelona are now set to take on Celta Vigo in La Liga as they welcome their opponents to the Montjuic Stadium. This is now the 32nd game that La Blaugrana have to play in the league, and it is a massive one for them. A win here could temporarily see Barcelona extend their lead in La Liga to seven points.
As for this game, Hansi Flick will be aware that Celta Vigo can certainly make things tricky for them if his players are not at their best. Competing for La Liga is a major priority for Barça this season, and it is important that the side delivers a strong performance especially after their recent loss to Borussia Dortmund.
Moreover, that is exactly why Hansi Flick has decided to field a strong starting eleven for this encounter against Claudio Giraldez’s team.
In goal, Polish shot-stopper Wojciech Szczesny starts for Barça. While he is no longer unbeaten at the club following the most recent loss, he is still the man who seems to have Hansi Flick’s backing to protect the team’s goal.
Right in front of him, Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez form the centre-back partnership for Barcelona. They will need to be on their toes to minimize any danger that Celta Vigo tries to create.
On their flanks, Gerard Martin and Jules Kounde start as the two full-backs for Barcelona. With Alejandro Balde still sidelined, the team lacks a bit of pace in their full-backs but they seem to offer more defensive solidity.
In the midfield, Pedri and Frenkie de Jong start together. Both players offer technical qualities that can enable Barcelona to outplay their opponents, but they also have the awareness to keep the team’s structure in check.
Ahead of them, Ferran Torres and Raphinha occupy the wings as they look to pose an offensive threat to Celta Vigo. In between them, Fermin Lopez starts as the team’s primary central attacking midfielder.
Finally, Robert Lewandowski starts as the team’s primary centre-forward up top. He will be tasked with applying pressure on the opponent while also making sure that he converts any and all chances that come his way.
