The Sporting Judge has announced that Mike Maignan will be suspended for one game for something that happened after the Lazio match.
With the press release from the Sporting Judge which was released this afternoon, some surprise news emerged: Maignan has been suspended for one match and will miss the away match in Lecce scheduled for Saturday 8 March at 18:00 CET.
The reason for the disqualification is mentioned in the statement and can be traced back to the post-match of Milan-Lazio: “for having, at the end of the match, in the tunnel leading to the locker rooms, addressed a disrespectful expression to the referee.”
The Frenchman was also fined €15,000 for uttering the phrase. Strahinja Pavlovic will also be disqualified against Lecce, having been sent off midway through the second half of the match against the Biancocelesti.
The penalty awarded during added time at the end of Milan-Lazio in favour of the Biancocelesti for Maignan’s challenge on Isaksen was certainly controversial.
Despite the fact that he took a touch almost at a right angle and the ball was going for a goal kick, and the fact Isaksen kept running into the goalkeeper, the referee was called over to the VAR monitor and gave the spot kick after just one replay.
