Nice centre-forward and Nigeria international Terem Moffi (25) has sustained an ACL rupture in his left knee, according to a report this Tuesday from Nice-Matin. The Ligue 1 club has confirmed the bad news in a medical statement. The former Lorient striker is expected to miss the better part of the next Ligue 1 season.
The Nigerian international sustained the injury during Les Aiglons’ preseason training camp in Austria. Medical exams undertaken this morning revealed an ACL rupture in Moffi’s left knee. It’s a serious blow for Franck Haise’s OGC Nice. Since joining the INEOS-owned French club eighteen months ago from Lorient, Moffi logged 20 goals and five assists in 52 games with Nice.
Nice-Matin adds that the OGC Nice executives, including newly-named Sporting director Florian Maurice, are considering scouring the market for a striker amid Moffi’s months-long spell on the sidelines. Les Aiglons have now just two fit senior centre-forwards in Gaëtan Laborde (30) and Evann Guessand (23), however, the latter is considering parting ways with Nice.
