The group stage draw for the upcoming Club World Cup has on Thursday evening been made official.
And, in the process, two of La Liga’s leading clubs have discovered their first three opponents in the competition.
Spanish football is set to be represented by capital pair Real and Atlético Madrid at the inaugural edition of the newly-formatted Club World Cup, to be held in the summer of 2025.
The former, currently considered one of the favourites to go all the way, will be tasked with getting the better of the trio of RB Salzburg, Saudi champions Al Hilal, and Pachuca:
Turning attentions towards Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid, and one of European football’s leading clubs lie in wait, in Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Rounding out Group B, meanwhile, are Botafogo and the Seattle Sounders.
