One of the greatest left-backs in football history, Marcelo has officially announced his retirement, bringing an end to a glittering career that saw him redefine the position.

The Brazilian icon, who spent 15 years at Real Madrid (2007-2022), leaves behind an unforgettable legacy at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Marcelo donned the famous white jersey 546 times, scoring 38 goals and providing 103 assists.

More than just numbers, his flair, technical brilliance, and attacking prowess made him a key figure in Real Madrid’s golden era.

With the club, he won an astonishing 25 trophies, including five Champions League titles, six La Liga titles, and numerous domestic and international honors.

Brought in as a promising teenager from Fluminense in 2007, Marcelo quickly established himself as a successor to Roberto Carlos.

Over the years, he became more than just a left-back—he was an artist on the ball, an offensive weapon, and a leader both on and off the pitch.
