Bayer Leverkusen have announced that central midfielder Robert Andrich has signed a contract extension at the club until 2028.
On extending his contract at the BayArena, Andrich said:
“I’m experiencing the most successful time in my career and feel that the hunger of the team is as big now even after that special season, I’m really looking forward to going on together in the next few years and I’ll give my all for my teammates, this special club and not least our fantastic fans.”
The 29-year-old also declared Leverkusen as:
“absolutely the right club”
Andrich joined Leverkusen in 2021 from Union Berlin and like most players at Die Werkself, his performances were good but not great until Xabi Alonso came along. At the start of last season, Andrich’s role was mainly on the bench but as the season went on he earned more starts and became crucial for Leverkusen as he scored key goals throughout the season.
The midfielder’s performances earned him a place in Germany’s EURO 2024 squad where he partnered Toni Kroos in midfield as Germany reached the quarter-finals.
Andrich is not the first player that Leverkusen are looking to tie down. Forward Amine Adli has also been offered a contract extension by Die Werkself and he too is expected to extend.
