Eagles boss confirms plans after losing defender to Chelsea

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner admits the club could look to sign a new defender this month.

The Eagles lost centre-back Trevoh Chalobah earlier this week after Chelsea recalled the 25-year-old from a brief loan spell at Selhurst Park.

Glasner expressed his frustration at losing Chalobah when speaking after Wednesday's 2-0 win away at Leicester.

Still, addressing Palace’s plans for the rest of the January transfer window, the Austrian admitted the club remain on the lookout for fresh reinforcements.

Glasner suggested Palace could explore the loan market, while Palace remain in the market for at least two permanent signings before the transfer window shuts on February 3.

The Eagles look close to welcoming one new addition imminently, with 19-year-old Millwall winger Romain Esse expected to complete a move to the Premier League club.

"I hope we can announce a signing quite early," said Glasner. "Maybe later today or tomorrow, and, as I mentioned, we are also looking for a second one in a different position.

"Yes, Trevoh was a little bit surprising that he was called back by Chelsea, but very good for us is that Chadi Riad is back.

"We will discuss it and let's see. We will just do something if it makes sense, and if we think we don't find a right player who can help us achieving our goals, we won't do anything."
