FC Barcelona have concluded their first phase of the UEFA Champions League, and have shown themselves to be one of the most interesting sides in Europe as they finished second on the league table, scoring the highest number of goals, 28.

Now, the Catalans will have to return to La Liga, where their position is not as good, as they are currently standing third, trailing the leaders, Real Madrid, by 7 points.

They are set to face Alaves in their upcoming match on Sunday, and Hansi Flick already led his team to a training session today to prepare for this game. Mundo Deportivo has provided some details of this training session and has forwarded both good and bad news.

The bad news was the absence of Dani Olmo, who still was unable to train with the rest of his teammates, and is thus ruled out for the upcoming match on Sunday.

Barcelona had announced on January 19th that the midfielder was suffering from an overload in the soleus muscle, and while not mentioning the time period for his recovery, only revealed that he would miss the game against Benfica. But it is clear that he is still not ready to play, and would need more time to recover.

The good news was the return of the defender Inigo Martinez, who returned to training ahead of his expected schedule and was training with the rest of his teammates on Thursday.

The former Athletic Club center-back had suffered a tear in the femoral biceps of his right thigh in the Spanish Super Cup final against Real Madrid on January 12th.

He was expected to remain on the sidelines for 4 weeks but has returned earlier than previous expectations, even though it is not yet clear whether he will be able to participate in the upcoming game against Alaves.
