Morten Frendrup has been a name of interest for AC Milan in recent months, and there have been suggestions a January move could occur, but it will not be easy.
All season, Milan have been linked with adding midfield depth to their squad, given there is virtually none at present. Whilst the Rossoneri have Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Yunus Musah and Ismael Bennacer, there have been regular worries about whether there is enough coverage within the ranks.
For this reason, the January mercato presents an opportunity to strengthen and it seems increasingly likely that the Diavolo will have to make the most of it.
There are two midfielders wanted by the club, but it is believed that only one will arrive in January, with another being added in the summer mercato. With the mid-season market in mind, there is a lower budget available, but this does not mean the Rossoneri will not be able to get a good player.
In fact, one of the players that they are looking at, Frendrup, is a target for several Premier League clubs, as well as a few Serie A teams – most notably Juventus, Fiorentina, and more recently Atalanta, according to Alfredo Pedulla.
A move in January is possible, but Genoa will request upwards of €20 million, which could be a difficulty for Milan.
