Looking at these Premier League fixtures in this round of matches.
Seeing the other games from a Newcastle United perspective.
Eddie Howe and his players facing West Ham away on Monday night.
Ahead of that though, the other 18 Premier League clubs all play.
Six games on Saturday and then three on Sunday.
As a Newcastle United fan though, have a look at this weekend’s other Premier League fixtures and have a think about what you’d like to happen and what is likely in terms of results.

My Conclusions
Saturday 8 March
Forest v Man City – Newcastle may be a point closer to Man City but I think for sure, NUFC will be better off here with a win for Pep’s side. Forest have won only one of their last five matches and lost three of them, whilst in their latest game they were fortunate to win on penalties at home in the FA Cup against relegation-bound Ipswich. In contrast, Man City have bounced back from their amazing run of poor results in domestic competitions. Man City have won nine of their last 12 and only lost to the top two, Liverpool and Arsenal, in this run. I think Man City will win today and hopefully Forest keep on dropping points.
Brighton v Fulham – Another PL fixture where Newcastle can’t really lose, as at least one of them is dropping points. Guess a draw is best as a point goes astray and both teams stay behind NUFC. In the Premier League, Brighton bounced back from losing at home to Everton and then walloped 7-0 at Forest, only to then win their last three PL games. Fulham have also won three of their last five PL games but managed to lose at home to both Man U and Palace. A draw could be the most likely here.
Palace v Ipswich – Ipswich have lost eight of their last eleven PL games but the other three saw them beat Chelsea 2-0 and draw at both Fulham and Villa. Palace have won five of their last seven but lost two of their last three home matches to Brentford and Everton. You would have to fancy Palace here but if Ipswich have one of their rare better days, just maybe, they could shock Palace and go to within two points of safety by the final whistle.
Liverpool v Southampton – Top v bottom. Looks only one result possible. However, in the reverse fixture, Southampton lost 3-2 after having led 2-1, Salah goals on 65 and 83 minutes retrieving the situation. From a Newcastle point of view, maybe the most interesting thing here will be seeing how strong a team Slot plays, with PSG on Tuesday and then Newcastle five days after that at Wembley.
Brentford v Villa – Villa have won only one of their last seven PL matches and have been especially vulnerable after Champions League matches. Brentford have came back to a bit of form, winning three and losing only one of their last five PL fixtures. I think Brentford will win this but at worst a draw, which would ensure Villa remain behind NUFC and having played two games more after today.
Wolves v Everton – Fourth bottom playing fifth bottom, so not affecting the fight for Champions League spots. Everton unbeaten in seven but drawing three of their last four, whilst a tough recent set of fixtures has seen Wolves win against Bournemouth and Villa, but lose at home to Fulham and an unlucky 2-1 defeat at Anfield. I fancy Wolves not to lose this and likely win, a massive carrot for them as if Ipswich lose, Wolves could go eight points clear of trouble.
Chelsea v Leicester – Chelsea beat Southampton 4-0 in their last match but before that had won just two of ten, losing five of them. However, they face a Leicester side who have lost 11 of their last 12, the exception a win at Spurs. Chelsea flatter to deceive and you hope the Foxes can get something, but even Chelsea should win this, despite their poor form.
Spurs v Bournemouth – In years gone by when Newcastle have been competing at the upper end, we’d have wanted a plucky Bournemouth side to get something against Spurs. Instead we’ll all but cheering on hopefully, plucky Tottenham. Room for hope as the Cherries have lost three of their last four and beat Southampton in the other game. Whilst after beating only Southampton in eleven PL matches, Spurs have won three of their last four.
Man U v Arsenal – I little bit like Spurs, I suppose we should be wanting lowly Man U to win this. I can’t see NUFC catching Arsenal but if they lose and Newcastle beat West Ham, it would be only seven points between ourselves and the Gunners.
