One such player with whom negotiations have proved to be quite complicated so far is the Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong. The Catalans have already rescinded the first offer they had presented to the €45m-rated Dutchman after not having received a response from him for quite a long time.

In recent weeks, there have been reports suggesting that the two parties are now once again involved in renewal talks, as the Catalans have already sent a fresh renewal offer to the 27-year-old Dutchman.

Meanwhile, the Barcelona captain continues to be linked with other top clubs in Europe as well. In this regard, the latest news has been provided by Fichajes, which claims that the Premier League side Arsenal, which has been interested in Frenkie for some time, is now looking at him as their big reinforcement in the coming summer transfer window.

This change has come after the German midfielder Joshua Kimmich opted to remain at Bayern Munich going forward.

The Gunners are looking to strengthen their midfield, especially as two important players, Jorginho and Thomas Partey, can leave their team this summer. They are also trying to secure the signing of Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, but want to further strengthen their team with another top-level signing.

In such a context, Mikel Arteta believes Frenkie de Jong will be the perfect compliment for his midfield, along with players like Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, and potentially Zubimendi as well.
