An in-depth rundown of how Southampton can perform against Fulham based on how the visitors have fared in the Premier League.
In the summer, Southampton kicked-off their Premier League season with an away fixture and will conclude that at home in a month's time. Still, deep down every Saints fan admits that the ambitious part of the campaign could be brought to a close on Saturday itself.
Coincidentally, it will also be at St. Mary's, against a side donning a slightly similar black and white kit as the first opponents Newcastle United. Yes, they are Fulham who find themselves in Southampton's good books.
The reason lies in Southampton's points figure where Fulham also contributed one during Simon Rusk's first brief stint. In his second, Rusk has already laid out Premier League instructions to repeat that Fulham trip's performance and what could be better than completing a season draw double over them.
Talking about the present form, Fulham has experienced tough quality in recent weeks. They have only taken three points in their previous four outings but here's the catch.
The lowest ranked competitor among them was eighth-placed Bournemouth. Curiously, the Londoners' victory came in front of the best of that bunch, Liverpool.
Indeed, the Marco Silva-led side has undeniable quality throughout their roster. Rodrigo Muniz and Raul Jimenez are enjoying a great goalscoring run and defensive leaders like Bernd Leno and Joachim Andersen can't be underestimated in the top-flight anytime soon.
Neither, the Southampton fans should completely write off their team's victorious chances either. Southampton have played some promising football in the past couple of games and the whole senior team also seems much united in Rusk's guidance now.
According to Transfermarkt stats, the head-to-head status has also remained neutral between Southampton and Fulham meaning another points split could be on the cards. For Southampton, that's a more than welcoming outcome and let's hope the entire matchup also turns out to be a cheerful one.
