PREVIEW: Aston Villa v Durham | OneFootball

Aston Villa and Durham will be hoping to take another step towards the quarter-finals of this season’s FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup when the pair meet at The Poundland Bescot Stadium this evening.

Durham have taken four points from their two group matches so far while Aston Villa have three points on the board. Victory for one of the two clubs this evening would leave them in a strong position to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Aston Villa head coach Carla Ward goes into the match without veteran Natasha Harding who has ruptured her quad tendon. The former Reading star joins long-term absentees Remi Allen, Meaghan Sergeant, Simone Magill and Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah on the sidelines. Hannah Hampton could return in goal for the first time since her injury while head coach Ward may offer minutes to youngsters Olivia McLoughlin, Izzy Goodwin and Freya Gregory.

Durham make the trip to the Midlands without long-term absentees Lauren Briggs and Liz Ejupi. Goalkeeper Tatiana Saunders and captain Sarah Wilson may also continue to be sidelined.

The FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup fixture between Aston Villa and Durham kicks-off at 6pm. Tickets will be available to purchase on the turnstiles, however, The Poundland Bescot Stadium is a cashless venue.
