Real Madrid Confidential has reported that PSG are very interested in signing the young centre-back from Real Madrid, Raul Asencio. The Paris club are ready to trigger his release clause of €50 million as they are in need of a centre-back. They are looking into the transfer market for the best defensive profiles, and Asencio has emerged as the best possible option for the club.
The 22-year-old has emerged into the senior team from La Fabrica. The club was struggling through injury problems in the backline in the middle of the season and had to call him up. Since then, he has never looked back, has displayed his quality, and has become the cornerstone of the Madrid defence.
He combines physicality with tactical intelligence. The centre-back excels in aerial duels and boasts great physical conditioning, allowing him to dominate strikers. His composure on the ball is notable, with a passing accuracy often exceeding 90%, as seen in his pinpoint assist on debut against Osasuna in November 2024. Asencio’s versatility shines through, capably filling in at right-back, while his defensive maturity—rarely dribbled past—and aggression make him a standout talent from Real Madrid’s youth system.

He has played 858 minutes in La Liga so far and has kept an average match rating of 7.04. He has won 61.5% of the tackles, 68.7% of the duels, and 68% of the aerial duels. The stats have clearly depicted how vital he has been when two of their most important centre-backs were sidelined with injuries.
Therefore, it would be a big loss for Real Madrid if they let their star defender leave the club. He is the future of Madrid’s defence and one of the rare gems from their academy who can go on to serve the team for a long time. Asencio has always shown his passion for playing for the badge and should be the priority of the board. They should look to extend his contract with a good release clause that will be out of reach for any prospective suitors.
