Rangers could be looking to sign a new centre-back in the January transfer window.
According to journalist Joshua Barrie, Rangers could sign a defender on loan following injuries to John Souttar and Neraysho Kasanwirjo.
Souttar has been outstanding this season. He picked up an injury during Rangers’ 1-1 Europa League draw against Tottenham Hotspur at Ibrox, and he could be out for several weeks.
The Scotland defender missed the Scottish League Cup final against Celtic at Hampden Park on Sunday, and losing him at this crucial stage is a huge blow for the club.
Neraysho Kasanwirjo picked up an injury whilst on international duty for the Netherlands U21 side back in November.
The versatile defender, who joined Rangers on loan from Feyenoord, returned to his parent club to complete his rehabilitation, as per the deal.
Clement previously confirmed that the defender had undergone an operation and would be out for at least four to six months. Rangers can only get him back towards the end of the season.
Rangers have shown signs of improvement under Clement in recent weeks, and they will be looking to maintain that impressive form, both in domestic and European games.
With limited money available, signing players on loan makes sense. Rangers should look to sign quality defenders on loan from Premier League clubs who are not getting regular games at the moment.
Robin Propper and Leon Balagoun are currently the first-choice defenders available for Clement at Rangers, while Dujon Sterling can also play there if needed.
