Sky Germany reports that RB Leipzig are in contact with the management of Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner over becoming their head coach in the summer.
Following the sacking of Marco Rose at the weekend, Zsolt Löw is in charge on an interim basis for the rest of the season. Leipzig are now beginning their search for a permanent solution.
A meeting between Leipzig and Glasner’s management was said to have taken place in London recently. Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer has a past with Glasner, having worked with him when the Austrian was head coach of Wolfsburg. On top of this, Glasner also has a history with Red Bull, as he was Roger Schmidt’s assistant coach when the German was Red Bull Salzburg manager.
The current hurdle of a potential deal is the release clause in the Austrian’s Palace contract. This means Glasner is not the only candidate, with Schmidt also on the list.
Glasner is a successful manager in the Bundesliga, having led Wolfsburg to the Champions League, but his biggest career achievement was leading Eintracht Frankfurt to a Europa League win in 2022. At Palace, despite a difficult period at the beginning of the season, he has led them to an FA Cup semi-final.
