Marco Rose has just been sacked as head coach of RB Leipzig with immediate effect.
Rose has been dismissed following a disappointing campaign from the German side, who sit sixth in the Bundesliga table. Leipzig lost 1-0 at Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday, a result that leaves them three points from the Champions League places. Fourth-placed Mainz also have a game in hand.
Leipzig also endured a disastrous Champions League campaign. The Bundesliga side were eliminated in the league phase having lost seven of their eight European games.
Rose departs Leipzig after two-and-a-half seasons in charge. The 48-year-old led the club to DFB-Pokal success in his debut campaign, before lifting the DFL-Supercup.
The search for a replacement will now be led by Jurgen Klopp, who was appointed as the Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull’s football network in January.
Earlier this month, Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner was named as one of three potential replacements by Sky Sports Germany, alongside Stuttgart head coach Sebastian Hoeness and former Benfica manager Roger Schmidt.
