RB Leipzig have sacked head coach Marco Rose following their defeat to Borussia Mochengladbach on Saturday.

Yesterday's defeat leaves the Red Bull side in sixth place, still only three points away from a potential Champions League spot next season.

Rose departs the club after two-and-a-half years in charge, having won the DFB Pokal trophy in 2023.

A brief statement said: "RB Leipzig relieve head coach Marco Rose of his duties with immediate effect this Sunday. His assistant coaches Alexander Zickler, Marco Kurth, Frank Geideck, and Frank Aehlig (Head of Professional Players) have also been released from their duties.

"The club will announce shortly who will coach the team until the end of the season."
