Barcelona and Real Betis are set to lock horns this weekend, in what could be yet another consequential tie in the context of the title race.
The Catalans have been in terrific form since the turn of the year and are currently on a nine-game winning streak in La Liga, which helped Hansi Flick’s men equal Luis Enrique’s record.
However, it appears Real Betis are chasing a little record of their own heading into this crucial La Liga tie.
Under the guidance of Manuel Pellegrini, Real Betis have put together an impressive six-game winning streak in La Liga.
A victory against Barcelona would see them reach seven consecutive wins in the Spanish top flight for the first time in their 59-season history.
Los Verdiblancos’ current run has come against formidable opponents, including Real Sociedad, Getafe, Real Madrid, Las Palmas, Leganes, and most recently, a 2-1 triumph over Sevilla in the derby.

Pellegrini’s men also secured a notable Conference League victory against Vitoria SC, thereby qualifying for the quarterfinal stage of the competition, where they will take on Polish outfit Jagiellonia Bialystok.
This streak has equalled Betis’s best-ever run across all competitions, set by Patrick O’Connell in the 1934-35 campaign and later matched by Sabino Barinaga in 1959-60 and Quique Setien in 2017-18.
Coincidentally, both O’Connell and Setien would go on to manage Barcelona after their stints with Betis.
Barcelona, however, will be wary of Betis’ historic ambitions and form heading into this tie. The La Liga leaders have been unbeaten in their last 21 matches across all competitions and are chasing a treble this season.
