Real Madrid are halfway to another appearance in the finals of the Copa del Rey after their narrow 1-0 away win at Real Sociedad.
Scorers: Endrick 19'
On a night when play had to be stopped at Reale Arena and stadium officials were forced to display the statement "No to racist, xenophobic and intolerant chants, encourage and support the team while respecting the rival" on the big screen, Carlo Ancelotti's men came out in front during a tricky away leg.
Without Kylian Mbappé and Federico Valverde through injury, and star duo Rodrygo and Luka Modrić on the bench, Brazilian youngster Endrick led the line alongside fellow young talent Arda Güler, as both had a rare chance to impress together in tandem with Vinícius Júnior.
Though Real Madrid were not at their best on the night across what was a very even match in Basque country, Endrick proved the difference maker when he calmly slotted home from inside the area in the 19th minute.
The Palmeiras youth product chested down a fabulous ball over the top from Jude Bellingham before driving into the area and sidefooting past La Real shot-stopper Alex Remiro.
On another night, perhaps a more decisive Sociedad side would have troubled Ancelotti's troops to greater effect, but given the unavailability of two key assets, the Italian headmaster will happily take this back to the capital for the second leg.
Real Madrid now extends their recent unbeaten run to seven ahead of an away day in Andalusia against Real Betis in La Liga on Saturday.
