The brass at La Liga giants Real Madrid rebuffed a winter approach for a member of the club’s defensive ranks on the part of French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
That’s according to Relevo, who point towards Raúl Asencio as the player in question.
Youngster Asencio has of course spent the last couple of months establishing himself as one of the most highly-regarded up-and-coming defenders on the continent.
Afforded a chance to impress amid the ongoing injury crisis in Real Madrid’s backline, the 22-year-old has managed that and more, courtesy of a string of standout performances in both La Liga and the Champions League.
With such excellence, though, comes inevitable outside interest.
As per a report from Relevo:
‘Several European clubs have asked for information on Asencio’s situation in recent months, both with calls to his representation agency and to Real Madrid itself.’
The aforementioned PSG, it is added, were chief amongst these sides, albeit with the Ligue 1 heavyweights having been swiftly knocked back by club and player alike.
