A headline member of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has tonight sent a message of support the way of Barcelona star Marc-André ter Stegen.
This, of course, comes amid what has proven an altogether challenging couple of hours for the German international.
Ter Stegen, as expected, was afforded a starting berth earlier this evening, as Barcelona marked their return to action in a La Liga meeting with Villarreal.
Shortly before the interval, however, disaster struck for the 32-year-old.
As much came upon Ter Stegen going to ground in evident distress, before being stretchered from the field of play in a flood of tears.
The widespread understanding is that Barcelona’s no.1 has suffered a serious knee injury, which could yet rule him out for the remainder of the campaign.
Messages of support, in turn, have since flooded in for Ter Stegen, from across the football landscape.
And, as alluded to above, a short time ago, such messages were added to by none other than Real Madrid counterpart Thibaut Courtois.
Himself no stranger to major knee injuries, Courtois took to his official X account, to write:
“I’m sorry about the injury Ter Stegen, it really hurt to see you leave the field like that. I hope you can recover soon and we can see you in goal again.”
