An insight into the stance of La Liga giants Real Madrid regarding the potential signing of ex-Borussia Dortmund star Mats Hummels has on Wednesday been forthcoming.
The name of defender Hummels has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital over the last couple of days.
This comes after claims spread in the media that the German international had made his way onto the radar of the Real Madrid brass.
On the lookout for a cut-price backup option after missing out on first-choice defensive target Leny Yoro, Hummels – a free agent after the expiration of his Dortmund terms – in turn, has been tipped as one potential option.
Those of a Blancos persuasion eager to see the experienced stopper make his way to the Santiago Bernabéu over the weeks ahead, however, need not get their hopes up.
As per a report from Diario AS:
‘Mats Hummels is not an option for Madrid. This is confirmed to AS by sources from the club.’
It is added that Hummels, at 35 years of age, simply ‘does not meet the parameters that the club handles’ at this moment in time.
