Tijjani Reijnders is inching closer to a renewal amid a brilliant start of the season, as he has already scored more in his entire maiden one at Milan. He dished on the talks to Ziggo Sport’s show Rondo (via Tuttomercatoweb).
“I haven’t signed yet, but we’re on the right track. It’s a nice reward that the club wants to hand me. It doesn’t happen often to get a contract extension after just one year. I’m in a great club, and it’s nice to see that they are pleased with me. I feel very good right now, which helps me reach my goals. I’m comfortable living in the city too.”
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Reijnders is fully committed to Milan despite some links to the Premier League and Barcelona. He had the chance to go elsewhere before his Serie A transfer and won’t revisit his decision anytime soon.
The Rossoneri plot to renew his deal until 2030, depositing it at the league’s offices in early 2025. The official announcement could come in short order. The midfielder currently makes €1.7M. His wages are bound to grow to over €3M annually. They spent €20M to acquire him from AZ Alkmaar.
He’s been pretty much their only constant through a few troubles and tribulations and various schemes and coaches since he came in. He was and will still be a bargain relative to the level of his performance. It’s remarkable that he’s been able to be so successful in the final third despite a rather retraining role in a side that’s quite up and down.
