Davide Frattesi is close to leaving Inter Milan, but he will likely stay put until the end of the season despite Roma’s quest to sign him immediately.
According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the midfielder’s staggering €40m price tag is a significant stumbling block.
While the 25-year-old would ideally leave in January, the cost of the operation renders him unaffordable for Roma.
One way or another, the former Sassuolo star will part ways with the reigning Serie A champions.
Indeed, he has already requested a transfer, and Inter are unwilling to stand in his way.
It looks like Frattesi’s time at Giuseppe Meazza is up.
After only making four league starts this season, the Italian ace is ready to pack his bags.
Roma and Tottenham Hotspur are hot on his heels.
However, neither club would match Inter’s valuation in January.
Therefore, Frattesi must be patient and accept his bit-part role in Simone Inzaghi’s set-up until the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Roma will likely need to sell Lorenzo Pellegrini to raise funds for the Nerazzurri misfit.
Indeed, Inter have already rebuffed their swap proposal.
But Spurs are lurking in the shadows as Ange Postecoglou aims to reinforce his depleted midfield.
