Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho in the January transfer window.
Latest update from journalist Fabrizio Romano is that the Blues have made contact with United and the player’s camp.
Chelsea are now deciding internally whether to launch a bid for the 20-year-old.
They face huge competition from Napoli for the talented forward, with manager Antonio Conte said to be a huge admirer.
The Serie A outfit have already made an opening offer worth £42 million, but that is not deemed to be enough for the Red Devils.
Chelsea’s levels have massively dropped in the last few weeks. They were flying high in the Premier League in December and were tipped to compete with Liverpool for the title.
However, the Blues have won just one of their previous six matches in the English top-flight.
Manager Enzo Maresca wants to add a few quality players this winter to boost their chances for a top-four finish. And they have a brilliant opportunity to land a top talent in Garnacho, who has proven his skills in England.
The 21-year-old has already made 118 appearances for United, registering 23 goals and 14 assists in the process.
The winger has failed to make a huge impact for his team this season, but he is undoubtedly a top talent.
United initially valued Garnacho at around £60m, but they are now willing to do business for £55m.
That is still not a small fee, but Chelsea could end up paying that amount given the quality of the player.
