Chelsea are willing to sell France international Christopher Nkunku in the summer to give Enzo Maresca more funds according to reports.

The Blues signed Nkunku for £52m from German side RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023, and there was a lot of excitement surrounding his arrival.

The 27-year-old looked sharp in pre-season under Mauricio Pochettino, but picked up an injury which ruled him out for around four months.

Nkunku returned and scored on his debut against Wolves, but the rest of the season he was hampered by injury issues and made just 14 appearances in all competitions.

The Frenchman got himself fit over the summer and once again impressed in pre-season, and it appeared he was set for a big role after starting the first game of the season against Manchester City.

However, things haven’t gone to plan and Nkunku doesn’t suit the way Enzo Maresca plays, and the only way he’s got in the team is as an alternative at number nine, whilst Craig Burley has labelled him a waste of money.

Nkunku was strongly linked with a move to Bayern Munich in January and is believed to have already agreed personal terms with the German giants.

A move to Munich never materialised, but GIVEMESPORT have reported Chelsea are willing to sanction the sale of Nkunku in the summer.

The report states Bayern is still a viable destination and he’s still a top target for the Bundesliga giants, who intend to revisit negotiations at the end of the season.

GIVEMESPORT add that Bayern have a determination to strike a deal with Chelsea at a price that suits all parties involved.

Nkunku will have a key role to play over the remainder of the season after the Blues allowed Joao Felix to join AC Milan on loan, although it would appear unlikely the forward will be seen in a Chelsea shirt next season.
