Inter Milan have four potential candidates in mind as possible replacements for Francesco Acerbi in defense.
Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, list Isak Hien, Giorgio Scalvini, Jaka Bijol, and Mario Gila as the four names at the top of the Nerazzurri’s shortlist.
One thing that seems clear is that Inter need to come up with a long-term succession plan for Francesco Acerbi.
The Italian international is 36 years old. And in the last twelve months, injuries have begun to catch up with him.
After undergoing groin surgery in the summer, Acerbi was able to be fit consistently over the first couple months of this season.
But two thigh problems have kept him on the sidelines virtually since October.
The real problem is that Acerbi has not been able to recover quickly. Muscle injuries have put him out of action for weeks at a time when the hope has been that he could be back after a couple matches.
Therefore, one of Inter’s priorities for next summer will be to replace Acerbi.
And according to Tuttosport, there are four prospective candidates who the Nerazzurri have lined up.
Two of them are Atalanta players. Both Isak Hien and Giorgio Scalvini have caught Inter’s attention.
Then, there is Udinese’s Jaka Bijol.
And lastly, Tuttosport reports, Inter are also looking at Lazio defender Mario Gila as a possible replacement for Acerbi.
